In the world of Theater
Jean Im
How did theatre begin in Spain? Well, a dramatist by the name of Lope de Vega began writing plays between the 15th and 16th century. His fame started in Valencia where most of his work was written. While he was in Valencia, he married a woman named Isabel de Urbin but had affairs and children outside of his marriage. In addition, most of the women and all of his children did not last a lifetime, for they passed before Lope de Vega. Through these experiences, Lope was inspired to write more plays and argued that he had written 1,500 full-length plays, but only 800 were discovered. The theme of his plays consisted of love, religion, tragedy, honor, human truth and others that expressed different themes of the world through his plays.

ENGLAND, The playwright, William Shakespeare, is the latest rage in theater. It has themes and language simple enough for even commoners to understand yet even members of the royalty enjoy his works. One advocator of William Shakespeare is Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth I of England.
Shakespeare, a renaissance man, drew inspiration from classical texts. Critics describe him as a man with deep understanding of human nature and excellent command of the English language. His plays are now playing at the Globe. His tragic romance, Romeo and Juliet is very popular among the English people. Although if one is looking for comedy, his A Midsummer Night’s Dream would be the best choice. Garbage to pelt the actors with is not necessary.

In England, brilliant philosopher, Thomas Moore, released his mind-boggling book Utopia. His studies in social philosophy enabled him to write this brilliant book by using the sufferings and wrong doings of man and creating a world that is free from all the suffering and wrong doings, essentially a utopia.
Across the way in London, another writer emerges. His style of writing, however, is in playwright. Although he does write some very lyrical and lovely poetry, his favored style is in theatre and script-write. This new writer goes by the name William Shakespeare. This play’s centre is of two young, star-crossed lovers who risk their entire beings in order to be with one another.
